After the Storm

Well - it's over. Our week full of houseguests is finished. We had a great time - it was so nice to have my parents and Matt out. It was also wonderful to see Howard and Sara - not to mention finally meeting Braydon. Such a cutie. I think that Sara and I set our hopes too high for the kids to play together. "Parallel Play" was about the closest that it got (besides some biting and hair pulling). But that's okay. We had a really good time anyways.

Went to the Ecotarium yesterday. I am really ashamed that it took us three and a half years to get there. We were so impressed that we went back and bought a family membership. Their pre-school section is great. Our thoughts about getting the family membership went something like this: even if we only take Caroline twice a month and she gets nothing else out of the place besides running around until she's blue in the face and getting really tired so that she takes an extra long nap...it's worth it! I'm really looking forward to going back (and not just so I can get more work done around the house when the baby sleeps more)!

Have to do more draft prep tonight...

Here are some pics from the last few days:

Caroline and Brayden loved riding in the wagon

Caroline didn't really get into the game of "Twitcher" at the Ecotarium - she much preferred to suck her finger and stomp on the bugs on the gameboard

Caroline goofing around in CVS waiting for her prescriptions for her ear infection to be filled. Antibiotics are a wonderful thing...

Springtime?!?

I was looking through the NOAA website trying to get the forcast for this week and came up with THIS. I am hoping this is a big, fat, awful mistake because Sara, Howard and Brayden are going to have a MUCH harder time transistioning to New England weather if it's true.

Sledding

We haven't taken it out for a spin yet, but the new-to-us sled is a big hit.

Raring to Go...

This picture is from 6:30 this morning. When I say she wakes up ready to go, I really mean it. I wish we could all be this happy so early in the day!

And from earlier in the week...she's still loving her books (and we love the "You Can't Spell PRINCESS without ESPN" shirt)

Happy St Patrick's Day (for real)...

Not that we were at all surprised, but we woke up this morning to see this ( I love that silly headband):

We now have the driveway shoveled / snowblown out (thanks to our wonderful neighbors) - we're saving the front steps for later. We got about a foot of snow, but with an inch of ice coating the top. That, at least, made it easier to clean off the cars. But on the downside, it made it much, much harder to shovel.

Caroline is back to herself, but Jim is still struggling with the bug that has been going around. We haven't been able to get much draft prep done, but at least there are some games on this afternoon that we can listen to (prepping by osmosis). There is something so appealing about listening to a baseball game with a foot of snow on the ground outdoors. Let's you know that spring is on the way.

But until the games get started, Jim is watching "Saving Silverman" (having seen "The Jazz Singer" - Neil Diamond is much better as himself than anything else). Caroline is sleeping. We'll see how long that lasts. =-)

Some Snow Pics:

Caroline was less than thrilled to get dressed to go outside this morning.

You expect me to walk in this stuff?!?

Fine - I'm just going to sit here then until somebody comes and picks me up!

Happy St Patrick's Day (almost)...

Okay - she didn't stay as still in the pictures as she did last year, but this is what we got today...

For the Nerd In You

Ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter is Pi. Its one thing to click on it on your calculator, another thing to memorize it to over 67,000 digits!

Saturday Afternoon...

Not much going on here. Caroline slept for almost three hours this afternoon and this allowed us to listen to the Twins/D-Rays game and do some draft prep. She also continued to uphold her "Miss Poops-a-Lot" nickname (Daddy is giving her a bath as we speak). Oh, well. At least it gives us a chance for her to get a lot of wear out of her winter clothes.

It's a nice, lazy Saturday. It would be nicer if we didn't lose an hour of sleep tonight - but it will be good to not have the sunset until seven.

When we changed the sheets on the bed today Caroline made herself very comfortable in the down comforter.

Friday

I usually joke that I work much harder working my real job than I do for the 30-32 hours/week I spend working my second job. Today is definetly one of those days that I agree with that. It's one of those days. The kind of day where the line between need to do and should be doing gets really fuzzy and I end up getting very little done at all because I'm trying to do too much. You know how it goes. So I'm taking a twenty minute break to do something that I want to do.

That and my father called and said "You know it's Friday and I've been looking at the same pictures for a week..." I get the drift. =-)

Little Miss Poops-a-Lot (the Shepard's Pie from last night is not so much fun to clean up today) is finally down for a nap. Okay - well - she's not napping, exactly. She's in her crib and (kind of) quiet. At least she's not pounding on the wall like she usually does. I know she's exhausted - while she was playing she was trying to lay down on everything. But she just doesn't want to nap. It's too bad. I want to.

We've been trying to get our prepping done for our baseball draft coming up in three weeks. We squeeze in as much time as we can and I'm hoping that our draft goes better than last year...

The St Patrick's Day Parade is this weekend. It's supposed to be warm (anything above freezing is considered tropical after the past few days) - so we may take a jaunt downtown. We'll see...

So - without any further blabbing (my 20 minutes is almost up)...here are the latest Caroline pics:

She finally has enough hair to put a headband in!!! Hooray!!

Poor Meow-Meows. He ususally gets the brunt of it. But he keeps coming back for more...

You're telling me that this is going to fit me someday??

Being coy.

Saturday

We got to go outside and play because it was so warm today. We stayed out of the snow since it's that hard, crusty stuff that hurts when you fall on it. So in the driveway we were. Caroline had a blast - her first puddle jumping experience. Stomping, sitting, splashing. Anything she could do to facilitate her needing her clothes changed after she was done...ummmm...I mean.... get herself wet she did.

You know the best part? She's taking her second nap of the day.

A-men.

Friday Night

Today was a wet, nasty day. But not nearly as bad as it could have been, thankfully.

I had jury duty yesterday. I ended up being released about 1pm without being called into a courtroom. Not that I minded...but I was really dismayed at the state or the Worcester County Courthouse. Some parts of it were just downright gross. The ceiling tiles in the jury waiting area were stained brown with smoke and water and goodness knows what else and looked ready to fall on our heads as we sat patiently waiting. They were using snowfencing material to act as a barrier on the stair railings (Being from upstate NY I have seen a lot of snowfences. But I've never seen it used like that). And I won't even talk about the bathrooms. Yuck.
Not that it was all bad. For the first time in over thirteen months I actually got to sit and read a book that wasn't on baby stuff. I need to do that more often.
I almost wish I had gotten called into a courtroom. Chalk it up to me watching too many old episodes of Law & Order - but I kind of wanted to see what it was like in there.

Maybe next time.

I know there haven't been any Caroline pics in a while. My father called me on that eariler today saying "You know, I'm sitting here watching the same video I've been watching for the past six days..." I guess the guilt thing works - here are some new pictures. Her vocabulary is ever expanding and now includes "appa-jus" when she wants us to get her a drink. She has been harassing Junior more and more - but he just seems to go with it. She actually sat on him today. He didn't do anymore than look up at her and purr louder. Oh, well. He may not be the brightest cat ever - but we're glad he's ours.
