Nate's Blogging for School

Hi my name is Nate and I am doing this blog for school and I am going talk talk about my cat Tseitle. She is a grey cat who is very skittish  and her fur is very fuzzy.  Tesitle comes out when all of us are in one room.  She likes and hates being petted because she runs away and comes back for more at the same time.  Sometimes we scare Tseitle and she hides in the basement in a box full of cd's.  She likes to be with her older brother Pheidippides Duke  or PD.  Herkimer the alpha cat isn't a big fan of Tseitle but they get along.

Getting in a Groove

It's been a year since this Corona Virus thing started.  A year like no other.  And that's okay.  Finally...after a year...I feel like we're getting into a groove.

I'm almost afraid to write that out loud.

But here I am...middle of the afternoon...two kids done with school, two kids still working...laundry put away...dinner ready to go in the oven...lesson plans for tomorrow done...

It's nothing short of miraculous.  Even if the house looks like an F5 swept through it.

Now if only all the kids could get along.  For his own safety, I've had to separate Benjamin from the rest.  His needling skills are exceptional.  He's apt to get pounded by his older sister.  I'll only shield him for so much longer.  The kid has to learn.

1st College acceptance!  She's excited.  And petrified.  We decided an online Spanish course is a good place to start.

Grade 10 homeschool threw up on my table.  It will be Spanish, Algebra, US History, British Literature, Chemistry & Integrated Drawing.  I think she won't be bored.

Herkimer is *oh* so helpful with the homeschools.

We ventured down to Mount Vernon this past week on a 70 degree day.  We were psyched because we were able to get tickets to tour the mansion house.  When we got there we found out the roof was leaking and our tour was cancelled.  BUT...the re-enactors were out in force and we had a great time talking to them.  We also enjoyed just sitting down by the Potomac and watching bald eagles circle overhead.

Our Wednesday night was capped off by a clogged sink disposal.  Benjamin was ready to help.  I'm not sure if it was because he really wanted to help or because he didn't want to go to bed.

Now with baseball starting back up, we spend a lot of evenings out at Heritage Park.  The sunsets are gorgeous and make me even more grateful to be right here, right now.

Remember the "1776 Project"?
The Trump Administration's response to the "1690 Project"?
Well, don't.  It's crap.
I printed it out to use as an example of political bias and propaganda in our social studies lessons.
I pulled it out just to rile myself up last Saturday morning.
Tears came to my Homeschooling Mama eyes when I saw (valid) snarky comments and highlighted remarks made by not by one but TWO of my children.  #homeschoolforthewin

The boys have been OBSESSED recently with Godzilla.  You know... those freaky Japanese movies from the 50s?
So I had no idea that there are like eleventy billion films in the series and many different Godzillas and monsters and even different series.  After watching them, I can't figure out why...but...
Well...Godzilla has given rise to additional interest in dinosaurs and prehistoric animals.  The boys pooled their money and bought Lego dinosaurs and have created a Jurassic Park in the basement.  They spend HOURS playing with these Legos.  I don't know how much longer they'll all play together like this...so I'm going to let it last as long as I can.
AND.....
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!
Here is the 16th annual edition of our Irish pictures.

Realization

That moment when you realize there was a Josiah Bartlett from New Hampshire who really did sign the Declaration of Independence.
