Memorial Day

I had to change the password to the blog.
It had been so long since logins that I didn't have a clue what the sign in was.
Huh.

Trying to embrace the last few minutes of peace and silence before the brood wakes up and gets this day going.  Oklahoma has been kicking my butt.  It's not that we're so busy.  We're not.  It's being home all the time makes me see all the things that need to be done here to keep things moving efficiently  - especially now that home is base for school, too.
Down time away from the kids is minimal - I'm their mother, teacher, field trip coordinator, food services / linens manager and school principal.  That doesn't leave a lot of energy for much else.
It's an ongoing struggle.  It's a season of life and it is what it is.

Sometimes it's wonderful.
Sometimes it sucks.

We're trying to get a day of school in, even though it's Memorial Day.  It's SO much easier with another adult around.  Sam and Caroline are about 70% through their school year.  Not bad for starting at the end of November.  Nate is about 40% though and Benjamin is plodding along.  I didn't do a lot with him when he was going to preschool and now we're starting to pick up the pace.  He's steadily becoming a reader.  I think when he's able to do more of the reading and comprehension on his own - he's going to fly.  He is supposed to go to a morning Pre-K program at UCO this summer - but since he is in a groove now with homeschool, we're really considering not sending.  I think it will have to be a game time decision.
All the kids will be taking dance this summer, as well.  Sam just learned that he doesn't have to participate in the recital  to dance  and with that revelation, he's ALL in.  Nate hasn't stopped dancing SINCE his recital.  It's constant tapping and Elvis Pelvis-ing.  Benjamin is incessantly cartwheeling (helicoptering?) around the living room.  It's a given that if Caroline isn't off dancing somewhere, she's sitting and dancing in her brain.
I guess we're a dance family now.

Aaaaaaaannnnnddddd....the peace and quiet has ceased.
The throngs have risen.
It's on like Donkey Kong.

Have a great day.
