Caroline Quote of the Day: Trippy Edition

Caroline has been perseverating about the details of Trippy's upcoming birth and getting upset about the whole thing...once we got her calmed down from the "he will be covered in blood?" peak, she jumped into my arms, gave me a big hug and after a minute, looked up at me and said, "Daddy, when Momma is in the hospital when Trippy is born, can we go to the EcoTarium? Can we?"

Vacation?

Well, Ria was on vacation last week. We were very fortunate that both Grampy & Grampa and Nina & Pops were able to watch the kids and Jim and I could try to collect our time off for when Trippy decides to arrive.
I was looking at the pics that I had taken over the past week (not too many - no worries) and I seemed to sense a pattern.
Do you see it?

Fight the Power

I'm blogging when there are so many other things that I should be doing because our bedroom is the coolest spot in the house.
Trippy is extraordinarily active, which I'm going to take as a sign that he/she is not arriving any time soon. All I can say is that it's sooooo much easier to carry a breech baby than it is to carry one head down. And, with feet sticking out of the top of my stomach (enough for other people to notice, even), there is no doubt that Trippy is head down. The only advantage to this that I can see is that I have no desire to eat seeing that the contents of my stomach are being churned not only by peristalsis but by someone dancing on it. This can't be a bad thing, right?
We spent yesterday lounging by the pool. It ain't the Ritz, but it was a lot of fun.

We've been making an effort to listen to some different music around the kids. Stuff they should know about...We have a Barenaked Ladies cover of "Fight the Power". It's pretty darn funny gleaning the meaning of the song and trying to reconcile it with the covering band. We figure it must be okay - they're Canadian - they don't swear or use foul language or say anything controversial - right?!?!
The kids like to sing along with it. It thought they got some of the words until Caroline asked yesterday if she could listen to the "Bite the Flower" song.
Too funny!

The Weekend.

I'm posting these on a Saturday morning (when there are many, many other things that I should be doing) because I think (scratch that) KNOW that my father will be carrying around his iPad today looking for new pictures of the kids. =-)
Even though I would prefer not to be in the city with the temp in the mid-nineties, part of me is glad I can't venture too far from home anymore. Gives us a chance to organize the chaos that has become our home with the recent renovations and preparations for Trippy's arrival.
We hope to get new carseats today and after that, we're pretty much set. Well...except for the fact that I want to have all the cooking, cleaning, laundry and other mundane details DONE before this little urchin arrives. Small details. =-)
Here are some pictures from the past week. We did get to go to the Red Sox game on Thursday. Besides the whole game part, we had a great time. The knuckleball just wasn't fluttering the way it should have (or at all) in the first inning. But it was good to be at Fenway again. We rode the train with some people visiting from Texas (if you think I make fast friends, Caroline makes them even faster) and had a very lovely night. It was topped off by seeing Caroline on the jumbotron dancing and singing to her song. Good or bad, I think we may have an actress/performer in the making. The girl just has a way of ending up in the spotlight...
Reading before bed (in the new bed):

On the T going to Fenway...
A family shot before the game started:
Hopefully we can find a way to beat the heat (and get everything done that we'd like to get done) today.

Tee-Hee.

Jim just had to get a picture of this the other night.
First I thought it was adorable.
Then I thought, "Good gracious - is that what I really look like?"
=-)

Belly Shot.

The more of these that I post, the worse I feel about not taking pictures when I was pregnant with Sam. I was so self conscious then - I thought I was a house. And I hated the way I looked.
I'm beyond that stage now. I know I'm a house.
But I've come to the conclusion that it is what it is.
And as long as Trippy is happy and healthy, it's all good.
So - we're in the home stretch. Down to six or so more weeks. I think Trippy may arrive before that point. Considering Trippy was measuring ten days ahead (even as early as 11 weeks), I'm hopeful that our wait to meet our newest urchin may be shorter. But I don't want to set myself up for disappointment....
Plus, there's a lot to do between now and then. =-)

Hot.

Well. The title says it all. It's hot here. But I think of this. And I laugh. So it's definitely not as bad as it could be. That would be this. Which also makes me laugh. =-)
Speaking of as bad as it could be....
I'm getting nervous thinking about tomorrow because even though it's 94 out, the humidity is almost nil. And tomorrow the descriptor they keep using is oppressive. Oh, goody.
So I'm fighting the dehydration monster by drinking. And going to the bathroom. And drinking some more. And going again. I'm eight and a half months pregnant - I don't have to paint you a picture. Let's just say I don't go anywhere without knowing where there's a bathroom. =-) But as long as Trippy is okay and I don't go into labor (quite yet - ask me again in a couple weeks - I might have a different answer for you), it's all good.

We set some sort of record this weekend. We were up at the lake and didn't take a single picture. Not. One. Single. Picture.
Crazy, I know.
The fireworks were beautiful. And, as usual, a good time was had by all.

The kids and I went out this morning and got a bigger kiddie pool (the key was to get one that Mommy could fit into as well) while Jim was painting the bathroom. The bathroom will be just lovely when it's finished. All we'll need to do after the painting is done is to re-touch the cabinet (it looks a bit antiqued now) and to hang the mirror and cabinet. Hooray! At this point in my life, the whirlpool tub is worth its weight in gold! After the painting and some picking up were done, we turned out front yard into a water park and vegged out. I think we'll be doing a lot more of this during the week.
I scrapped all my meal planning for the week because of the weather, I don't even want to use the microwave. So much for hot meals! It's cereal and pasta salad and burritos and green salad this week. And if you don't like that? May I suggest a gourmet peanut butter and jelly? =-) Mama's not cooking.

I'll post some pictures because I can feel my feet swelling up. Time to go run around a bit.

Here's CJ posing in the new pool:

And the two urchins on the front steps patiently awaiting their popsicles:

Nastrovia!

I really wish this picture was centered better, but here's my little stink-a-doo!

And Caroline and Dada running through the sprinkler

And Caroline and Mama staying cool in the pool:

Last but not least...Here's Sam and pjaffe:
