Recovery Mode

6:30 on a Saturday night. Just home from a dance competition.  Making dinner (eggs and tater tots - Because Oklahoma) and watching some Star Wars.

We have been in Oklahoma almost seven months.  It has been challenging, especially at first.
As of January, everyone is at home for school.  It is a learning experience.  For everyone.
Some days it's about not punching people.
Some days it's about learning.
I"m grateful we have the opportunity to homeschool.  The kids are learning and doing things that they would never do in public school like:
-Spend the week protesting for increased school funding at the Oklahoma State Capital.  We also walked 14 miles from Edmond to OKC in solidarity with educators to bring attention to the Cause.

We got to meet one of the kid's favorite authors, Victoria Jamison, and take a drawing class with her at the Oklahoma City Public Library.

Learn about the Trail of Tears and earn Junior Ranger Badges at Fort Smith, Arkansas.
And yes.  We went to Arkansas on purpose.
You know what?
It is gorgeous.

Meet the Pioneer Woman:
Attend the Beatification of a future Saint:

Go to the World Series:

We have also done dance competitions with Caroline, the Youngers have started dance classes, SAm has enrolled in Boy Scouts, completed a National Weather Service Class in Weather Spotting, gone to Laura INgall's homestead in Kansas and Jim intends to start school in the fall for his Masters Degree.

So, yeah.

We've had a bit of a time.
This exercise in remembering is very good for me.  Frankly, I think I"ve had the most difficulty with the transition to living in Oklahoma.  I miss My People.  I'm finding my shtetl, slowly and surely - but it is a lonely journey.  With all the kids at home all day long, the opportunity for me to get out much doesn't present itself often.
