Three More Weeks...
...until Smalls arrival. According to the ultrasound today, he is a very big boy, with his anticipated weight at his due date being somewhere from the high eight pound to the mid nine pound range. Needless to say - we're hoping he comes a bit before then. We weren't really able to see much in the ultrasound, he's so big. In fact, he sort of looks like an alien. But we are really looking forwards to meeting him.
Here is also a pic of Caroline from yesterday. "I wear Dada shoes".If she wants to wear Dada's shoes, we're thinking the steel toe work boots are exactly the easiest ones to start with!

Recovery Mode
We're officially in recovery mode. From the renovations, from the holiday, from just being in general, I think. It's kind of that phase when you're cleaning everything out and stuff becomes MUCH less organized before it becomes more organized. The good news is that we've gotten rid of a lot of stuff. I've come to the conclusion that less stuff is good. Good for cleanliness purposes and good for general well-being/sanity. I just hope we can get re-organized before the baby decides to arrive.
Along those lines, we'll hopefully have more ultrasound pics Wednesday. They're checking size and position. I think he's head down now, but he wasn't that way a couple weeks ago. The doctor said, "Your children just don't like to be where they're supposed to be, do they?" Ain't it the truth! Caroline just finally went to sleep (I hope). It has been a struggle recently. We're hoping these sleep issues miraculously resolve themselves in the next three or so weeks. =-)
Here are some more pics from the past weekend when my parents were out:

PS - I'll post some pics from Thanksgiving once the ironing and laundry are done, the floor is clean in the kitchen, the bathroom is cleaned and our room is re-organized. Oh, yeah - and the room is done for the little man's arrival. It might be a while...

New Post
Okay - so November has been pretty light in the blogging department. But like I've been telling people - I would blog if I could stay awake past eight thirty. Since this is the first night in a while that I'm fully (or at least partially) coherent at such a late hour, I had to make good on my word...
I have a whole bunch of pics that I could post. The kitchen is done (except for the floor, which may just wait until after the baby arrives) - but I don't feel like fighting with blogger to try to put the pics up chronologically - so I'm putting up some other things.
My Mom and Dad were out last weekend and had lots of fun playing with Caroline...
Caroline also had a nice time hanging out with Grampy at Thanksgiving...
And last, but not least, Caroline was in RARE form this weekend. She is wearing her badge from when she and I went to visit Jim at Wyeth. We cut out a picture of her and taped it to the badge to make it a bit more authentic. She loves to wear a badge like Dada.
Like the outfit? Super classy, huh? And she's STILL wearing the badge...

Sweet Caroline Revealed!
Neil spilled the beans, finally, after nearly 40 years...plus, a little schpiel about how Neil has, thus far, spurned the Sox brass invites to sing it live at Fenway...

Time For Sox Fans To Pay The Piper

This is why I have not bought tickets for Sox games for the better part of a decade...can anyone say "raw greed"? A 9% average increase. When I split some season tix with friends in 1998 for infield grandstand, those tix were about $27 a piece...apparently they are now worth just about double that in 2008 ($50)

A Few Thoughts...
Sitting here, before I drift to sleep, I was surfing through the NPR website. Living near Boston, there has been a lot about the Red Sox everywhere - even on public radio. I heard this piece the other morning after the Sox won the series and got a kick out of it. I have always sort of wondered where the Red Sox got the songs from that they use and this explains it. What I didn't realize is that they only started using recorded music at Fenway in 1998. So all of these musical traditions have started in the last ten or so years. It's funny, because now you go to Fenway and can't imagine not hearing "Sweet Caroline" or "Dirty Water".
All this talk also reminds me of Landau's theory (until 2004) as to why the Red Sox hadn't won a World Series. To him, it's all about the music. Take, for instance, the Yankees (his favorite team). They have great music. Win or lose, it's "New York, New York". Awesome song. Inspring lyrics. "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere. It's up to you..." You know the rest. Makes you want to pack everything up and relocate to the City.
And then let's look at the Sox. The Standells sing "Dirty Water". First off - everyone knows Sinatra and Minelli. Who the heck has heard of the Standells? And then look at the substance of the song. In the New York song, they sing about how wonderful the City is. In "Dirty Water" they sing about water pollution, crime and repressed puritanical women.
Good times.
What does that say about us?
Landau thought "Think classy and you'll be classy - you'll never get to the Show if you have fungus on your shower shoes". Get some decent music and you just might win.
Luckily that wasn't the case.
But it's still funny. And the point is well taken.
Then I heard this on Talk of the Nation. What is Public Radio coming to when they put Fitzy on? I think it might be a before they have him on again. Sheesh. They should know better than to interview a crazy Paytoilets fan right before they play Indy.
We'll have to wait and see what happens.
