This Weekend...

It's seven fifteen. Lunches are packed. The kitchen is cleaned up. The kids are in bed (not sleeping, but at least they're quiet). Wow - this is weird.

We had an excellent weekend. We got to see Grampa and Aunt Chrissy on Saturday. It was kind of a cruddy day outdoors, but everyone enjoyed the indoor picnic we had. Caroline has overcome her fear of water and practically ran in until she couldn't run anymore - and then did a faceplant. Thank goodness for Aunt Chrissy. Her stay in the water was shortlived, it being 65 degrees outdoors and all. I think the pictures will say it all...

Pictures provided courtesy of Caroline and Sam's Grampa:

Having fun on the blanket:

Only our daughter would get attached to an icepack and carry it around with her. She was even burping "Baby Blue".

She even kissed "Blue" and let him know, "it's okay, Blue. I help you." What an icepack would need help with (except getting back to the fridge), I'm not sure.

It took some doing to get her warm again after her dip in the lake.

Today we went to the Tornadoes Game. We had fun - the kids got free sundaes courtesy of one of the local supermarkets and it was a total blow out with Worcester on the winning end. We certainly can't complain about the ticket prices - we had a coupon and paid ten dollars for box seats. For all four of us. Unfortunately, they were in the sun, so we didn't last as long as we would have liked. We were very impressed and grateful to the staff that went out of their way to get us cups of ice for the kids and to let us know where the shady seats were (and for not giving us a hard time for sitting there). They have a tip-top operation running there. I'm really looking forward to taking everyone again. When it's not 90 degrees.

To beat the heat, after the game we took the kids in the pool. Caroline enjoys entertaining Sam. But we still have to keep and eye on her - she gets carried away (as you'll see)...

And to complete the day...eating strawberries and whipped cream. Can you think of a better dessert?

Friday Morning...

Figured I would do this now before the day really gets going and gets away from me...

It was a busy week. Good, though.

We won with softball. Sam continues to creep towards mobility. Caroline is two and uses italics in her language as only a two year old can ("But I can't go to bed. I'm impossible.").

But they're cute and we love them.

Caroline Quote of the Week...

Out of the mouths of babes...

Yesterday I had the kids out playing. I was wearing Sam in the front carrier and pushing Caroline in the swing. We had been doing this for a while, so my arms were starting to get tired. I said, "Caroline - let's go over to the slide. Mommy's arms are getting tired from pushing you."
And you know what she said with a perfectly straight face?
"Mommy's getting old."
So I asked her to repeat it, just so I could make sure I heard what I thought I heard.
And she said it again.
Word for word.
"Mommy's getting old."

Sheesh.
I wonder where she got that one from...

This Boy...

...Wants nothing more than to be mobile.
Crawling appears to be imminent.
I am afraid.
Very.
Very.
Afraid.

Catching Up

At least one good point of being home with the bug is that I get to catch up on some stuff. Yesterday I was in bed until noon and then went to bed at seven. Today I'm at least upright - but in no condition to be chasing people around or working.
I came across some pictures dating as far back as Mother's Day. I'm just going to throw them up here and then take a nap. I'm exhausted.
All pictures courtesy of Grampy and Grampa or Nina and Pops.

Caroline and her cousin, "Boy":

Apparently this was the most comfortable seat in the house:

Don't ask me what she's doing:

He looks happy (in spite of wearing a lace dress):

Still happy...

But somehow he looks happier in just a onsie...

See what I mean? Boys are just happier not in lace (even if it is tradition):

And doesn't she look comfortable?

Sam's Big Day

Unfortunately - I don't have many pictures from today. I'll post more as I get them.
But we all survived the 90+ degree heat and had a good time.
And now we're ready to CRASH.

These were from bathies tonight. The kids were too cute. Sam was fussy and Caroline was telling him, "Don't worry, Sammy - I'll help you." I'm not sure he was convinced.

And then this is from later on in the bath. Don't they look like they're up to something?

This is what goes on...

...with two children in the house. Sam is absolutely loving his police car. He played with it for almost 20 minutes the other day. A new league record.

But while Sam is playing with his car - THIS is what his sister is doing:
Like the shoes? At least they match (they don't today - it's one boot and one sneaker). Oh, well. She's two.
