After Bathies...

Wednesday night again. Bathies are over and Caroline is (slowly) going down. I'm thinking our date tonight will be to watch the last episodes of Firefly. Hopefully next week we can get Serenity from NetFlix and be able to put all the pieces together. Sounds like Fox messed up with this series big-time, but thinking about it, they might have planned it this way, too. They're probably making lots more money off the DVDs than they would off the show. Like I said - we're hooked (and we're really big geeks, but you probably already knew that). It's tons more fun to watch than the Red Sox at this time...

So here is a new cute pic...got to go - I'm being paged...

Last Post of the Day

I promise (I think).

These were just too cute not to put up. Mom said that Caroline needed a playpen - so we plopped her in the box. She actually really liked it. As to her using the Blackberry (or Crackberry, as it's known in the Leahy Household) - she did end up dialing Patrick's number. We're hoping that we stopped her before she dialed anything else.

Oh - and don't worry about Matt getting a big head from the game - he had to ride public transportation back from the game and we made him sleep on the couch last night. =-) Today it's back to SUNY IT. Classes start tomorrow - ouch.

Sweet Caroline

Enough Said.

Futures at Fenway (and in Worcester, too)...

We had a really fun time yesterday at the games at Fenway. It was so nice to have the park not be packed to the rafters, to see lots of families around (instead of the usual drunken hoardes), and to see people wearing Pontillos Pizza shirts and Red Wings gear and knowing you could smile at them and they would smile back. It was like I had a piece of Rochester with me, even though we were in Boston. Everyone was able to make it and it was so wonderful to have both Jim and my immediate familes together in the same place.

Because of the smaller crowd, we got to do some roaming around the park and see some of the changes that have happened since Tom Werner bought the team. The concourses are much wider, the was a bigger variety of food and it was really great that they were finally able to connect the bleachers to the rest of the park. Patrick got to sit up in the Monster Seats for the last inning, but Caroline had just settled down by then - so we decided to stay put in Section 21 (in the grandstands behind home plate - probably the best seats we've ever had). Besides there being very limited access to changing tables in the bathrooms (I'm still amazed they haven't rectified that situation), Werner and his crew have done a great job with Fenway. I still have my issues (mainly with the fans) but we had a great day.

We were able to get a lot of good pics and document the day. Here are some official pics from the Red Wings site, too. Even though they lost - they looked like they had a good time. We did, too and hope they do more events like this.

Did we mention that they didn't let the teams use the lockerrooms at Fenway?

Hard at work in the bullpen

A bullpen cather's work is never done.

If the post seems a little focused on the bullpen, it is. It's okay. You're not a groupie if you're related.

Bath Time

It's Wednesday night.
I have a date.
With my husband.

Even if we don't go anywhere, we try to spend some "together time" every Wednesday night and take some time to date eachother. We've done this since we were dating and it's so nice to have some time just set aside for us. Tonight I think we're going to watch some episodes of Firefly (I have to admit, I'm hooked). After Caroline goes to bed, of course. She has made our Wednesday Date Night a bit more of a challenge, but we still have a good time - even if it's going to the Jesse Burkett field to watch a Little League Game. Anybody planning on watching the team from Portsmouth play on ESPN tomorrow night? Not having cable, we're looking for anyone we can to mooch off of to watch the game.

Caroline continues to be more and more mobile. She's crawling everywhere and pulling up to stand on anything that is still long enough for her to get hold of it. It's so cool to see her figure things out, but things are a lot different now that she doesn't stay in the same place that I put her down.

Here are some recent pics...

"Look Daddy, no hands!"
She's going to hate us when she's older for posting a picture of her naked buns, but I figure by the time she's a teenager, we might not be too high on her happy list anyways -so we might as well have our fun now.

Guess who picked out this bib? I'll give you a hint: it wasn't Mommy...

Isn't she just the best?

An Extra Special Thank You...

...to the thoughtless, inconsiderate person that left the ten gallon unlabeled gas can full of cooking oil in front of our house on Thursday night. We had to spend two hours on one of the few days off that Jim and I have had together recently making calls, waiting for the police/fire department and then waiting for the DPW to determine that it wasn't something that could harm us and to take it away to be disposed of properly. Considering the things that have been going on in the area with exploding mailboxes and such, we weren't going to take any chances. The police and fire guys told us that we did the right thing, but thinking of the taxpayer's money that was wasted because one lazy person couldn't dispose of some cooking oil appropriately makes me so mad. GGGGRRRRR.

Other Stuff from the Weekend...

I know the blog has been big on pictures and short on commentary recently. Has anyone really noticed? Does anyone really want to listen, anyways? I know I'd rather see pictures of Caroline (and I understand that I'm biased)...
Here are some more pictures from this past weekend. An excellent time was had by all (as is often the case when lobster is involved). It was nice to be with family and it was nice to just be.
PS - (More is coming later - I'm being paged by a teething child)

The Other Random Stuff...

All the toys in the world and this keeps her the happiest for the longest amount of time. It figures...

Fairlawn Softball 2006 (and some other random stuff)

Here is the 2006 Fairlawn Rehab Hospital Softball Team at the (almost) conclusion of a glorious .500 season (no really - that's GREAT for us)...
Yes - we do have some fans in the picture, but the only way we can get fans is to breed them ourselves - so we couldn't let them stray very far.

From The Onion Sports Section

A-Rod Also Leading Yankees In Grammatical Errors
July 27, 2006 Onion Sports

NEW YORK-After an embarrassing post-game interview in which Alex Rodriguez committed three sloppy grammatical errors in a single sentence, the Yankee third-baseman moved into the team lead with 57 on the season. "I'm feeling really well out there, and I thought I had proved myself after yesterday's game, but I just can't seem to remember that prepositions are not a good thing to end a sentence with," said Rodriguez, who has been working with Yankees sentence-construction coach Lee Mazzilli on his fielding of questions. "But irregardless of what my critics say, this inflammable problem will be fixed by me." Rodriguez was also quick to note that he would likely only be third on the team in both grammatical errors and double-negatives if Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield had been healthy and talking all season.

Weekend In Newport

We'll keep the chat to a minimum, and have at it with the pics:

Too tired from all the being pushed around in the sun (hotter than expected)

Watching mom and dad eat giant cookies (and I snuck a bite and liked it!)

I like eating dad's hat
-or-
I like to give Rasberries to the old guy on dad's hat

No more monkeys jumping on the bed!

An Update

Finally - a break in the weather. It's much nicer now. We've been running everywhere, it seems, this week. Softball on Monday and Tuesday. Dinner with friends on Wednesday. Last night we were able to a big, fat NOTHING and ordered in from Nancy Changs. It was nice not to have to cook, but we made the mistake of ordering the Pad Thai "as spicy as you can make it" (as the extra spicy portions that we got last time were nothing to write home about). WOW. It brought tears to our eyes. It was GREAT! We split an order and were very full when it was gone. To think I used to be able to down a whole order of pad thai near the end of my pregnancy (I was testing the theory that spicy foods put you in labor - we proved that theory as bogus).

Caroline is napping. The whole napping thing isn't going great. To her, I think there's just too much cool stuff to see now that she's mobile. And very mobile she is - here are the pictures to prove it....

Doesn't she look like she's up to no good?

Yup - She's standing (sigh)...

Doesn't she look like her Daddy? (except for the drool on the chin, of course)

An Explanation

Sorry there haven't been any new pics lately. It's not that we haven't had the oppourtunity. Caroline continues to do new and wonderful things that amaze us (like pulling to stand, saying "Mama", blowing raspberriers, clapping, waving bye-bye, and being ever so close to crawling). It's that we have been too hot and tired to document anything. It's just that hot. It was certainly too hot to have the baby sit in her stroller at our softball game, so Jim was nice enough to stay home with her (and Grampy was nice enough to watch her until Jim came home - THANK YOU!). We won. The Fairlawn team is getting it together to play some solid .500 ball. Which is the best we've done in a while, I recall. I ended up catching 4 or so innings. I realize that it's slow pitch, we don't have to wear any equiptment and at least one of the innings lasted 4 pitches, but WOW am I beat. Catching is tough. They don't call them the tools of ignorance for nothing! I'm convinced that no woman that has experienced childbirth could ever be called a wuss, but tonight I'm coming pretty close to wussy status, I'm so exhausted.
So I'm going to bed.

Have a good week - will try to post some pics soon...
