Futures at Fenway (and in Worcester, too)...

We had a really fun time yesterday at the games at Fenway. It was so nice to have the park not be packed to the rafters, to see lots of families around (instead of the usual drunken hoardes), and to see people wearing Pontillos Pizza shirts and Red Wings gear and knowing you could smile at them and they would smile back. It was like I had a piece of Rochester with me, even though we were in Boston. Everyone was able to make it and it was so wonderful to have both Jim and my immediate familes together in the same place.

Because of the smaller crowd, we got to do some roaming around the park and see some of the changes that have happened since Tom Werner bought the team. The concourses are much wider, the was a bigger variety of food and it was really great that they were finally able to connect the bleachers to the rest of the park. Patrick got to sit up in the Monster Seats for the last inning, but Caroline had just settled down by then - so we decided to stay put in Section 21 (in the grandstands behind home plate - probably the best seats we've ever had). Besides there being very limited access to changing tables in the bathrooms (I'm still amazed they haven't rectified that situation), Werner and his crew have done a great job with Fenway. I still have my issues (mainly with the fans) but we had a great day.

We were able to get a lot of good pics and document the day. Here are some official pics from the Red Wings site, too. Even though they lost - they looked like they had a good time. We did, too and hope they do more events like this.

Did we mention that they didn't let the teams use the lockerrooms at Fenway?

Hard at work in the bullpen

A bullpen cather's work is never done.

If the post seems a little focused on the bullpen, it is. It's okay. You're not a groupie if you're related.
